CONCERNED CITIZEN'S FORUM OF BUNAKEN NATIONAL PARK (Forum Masyarakat Peduli TN Bunaken - FMPTNB) FMPTNB is a representative's villagers from 30 villages (23 Desa/Kelurahan) that was born on 12 October 2000 on COMMUNITY BASED NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP on Liang Beach - Bunaken Island initiated by Yayasan KENDAGE U'RUATA and Badan Pekerja GMIM Wilayah Bunaken. VISION : "To conserve the natural resources in Bunaken National Park for the well-being of future generation" MISSION : 1. to Achieve harmonious communication villages inside the Park 2. to encourage citizen’s to take their own initiative for increased independence and well-being ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE : GENERAL BOARD of FMPTNB : Head of Board Secretary Treasurer Islands Area Coordinator Northern Mainland Area Coordinator Southern Mainland Area Coordinator VILLAGES BOARD of FMPTNB FUNCTIONS : 1. Represent villagers aspirations in Bunaken NP management decisions via the BNPMAB, and communicate BNPMAB policies to constituency 2. Formulate village conservation activities that are appropriate for specific village conditions 3. Improving income generating activities with seeing financial support from the outside Activities of the Concerned Citizen Forum

  • Manages a 30 station park-wide VHF radio network (patrols, communications)
  • Participates actively in BNPMAB meetings and policy dialogues
  • Manages village conservation/development small grants program
  • Villager Involvement in Mgmt: Joint Villager/Ranger Patrol System

    • 24/7, 52 villagers and 13 rangers
    • While villagers not allowed to make arrests or carry firearms, their presence has been crucial (keeps the rangers “honest”).
    • Virtual elimination of Destruction Fishing Practices (blasting, cyaniding)
    • WWF grant support
